Shield Active Protective System provides Near Field Hard Kill capabilities for ground combat and tactical vehicles for the U.S. Army.
In January 2019, UBT has completed testing in the U.S. Army's test evaluation of StrikeShield APS.
StrikeShield integrates innovative high-performance sensors, countermeasures, and high speed computing elements resulting in a distributed APS flexible enough to be integrated on a variety of ground combat and tactical vehicles. UBT StrikeShield is capable of defeating a multitude of threats in near proximity of the vehicle, ensuring minimal collateral damage. This near-field defeat process allows for industry leading minimal threat defeat distances. The 360° protection provides security in urban operations and other dynamic battlefield scenarios with the lowest possible collateral damage of any active protection system available.
FUNCTIONING PRINCIPLES
DISTRIBUTED/MODULAR ACTIVE PROTECTION
The StrikeShield Active Protection System (APS) is comprised of two ultra-fast independent sets of sensors and countermeasures distributed about the vehicle, ensuring maximum overlapping coverage and protection.
Threats are detected and intercepted in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle, thereby reducing collateral damage.
The APS interfaces with other digitized equipment on the platform to optimize situational awareness (e.g. cameras, weapon stations, launcher turrets).
Ease of integration enables modular installation on different light to medium armored vehicles.
